Especially since he discovered that by squinting through the tiny cracks in the visor near the nose piece, Jack was able to pin the "snake" on the Tok'ra every time, and win all the power bars. Well, at least until Daniel got fed up with Jack winning so often and refused to play any more. Thereafter the visor didn't see much use until SG-9 borrowed it to use in their Star Wars spoof for the SGC talent show. Their recreation of the scene on the Millenium Falcon where Luke was learning to fight the blaster brought the house down, especially because most of SG-9 were pretty good mimics, and it was clear to everybody that Luke was as played by Daniel Jackson, Obi-Wan was General Hammond, and Han Solo was Jack O'Neill. The Wookie, played by Sgt. Wallace, the weakest actor and tallest man on the team, lacked fur, but made up for it with a carefully gold-painted silicon removable tattoo. He could do a mean wookie call. Sam Carter laughed longer and harder than any of her team, because she, of all the people there, took the most delight in the impressions. Secretly, though, she was a little disappointed that she had no place in the spoof with the rest of her team, although she realized that with only four guys to work from - and they were definitely guys on that team - it would have been tough to work her in and carry it off well.

I took years of flack from my school mates for having an Ancient Egypt themed birthday party in fourth grade, with Pin the Mummy on the Pyramid, an archaeological excavation for marbles (she who finds the most gets a prize) in the bed that was dug but not planted for our tomatoes, and a find the tomb (and its contents) scavenger hunt for my 10th birthday. I was the new kid (we'd moved in in January) and clearly I was just plain weird.

I preferred to think of myself as a kid with interests. Yeah, it didn't make my insertion into the local social scene smooth and happy, but I was being authentically me and I would do it again.

I just may have been a female mini-Daniel in some respects. I was very good at languages, I regularly lost myself totally in what I was reading/researching losing all track of my surroundings and the passage of time, and I headed off to a college whose motto is veritatem dilexi, I shall seek the truth.

If you decide to go for it, you could have a snake shaped piñata, and everyone could buy one of those voice-morphers (we got one when a kid needed a Darth Vader mask for Halloween) and turn them on and off randomly. You could make a hatak shaped cake, and only warn your guests about a small portion of what you plan to do, so they are all inappropriately dressed for how things end up going. :^)

Alas, though you wouldn't be able to have coffee with your cake...

for what it's worth, i think that's a cool birthday party.

They could always have done another scene, with Princess Leia -- maybe the 'walking carpet' bit?
