Oh noes! Quick! Fangurlz Alert! She's escaping with him!

Oh, you're just jealous because she got there ahead of you!

Well, yeah.

Although I suspect that Beloved Husband would find him surplus to requirements, and rather in the way.

Hey, wait. You're playing around again, aren't you? Your icon has drifted!

ETA: Nope. When the screen refreshed to add this comment, the icon was back at the far left of the bar where it belonged. Just some sort of a glitch, I guess. Huh.

I know it's silly, but, looking at that incredibly beautiful smile, I can't think of anything to say.
Except: wow!

Yeah -- this isn't a terribly clever LOLMac, but I just couldn't resist doing something with the cap. The smile was too good to pass up.

I've never seen the movie. Is it as good as the smile?

(and for that matter, please, continue with 'not terribly clever' LOLMacs;-))

Um. The movie has lots of eye candy. LOTS. For its time, it was, um, a Worthy Effort. But I can't call it a good movie; it's got some very painful schlock in it. RDA plays a blinded Vietnam vet who doesn't cope with being disabled. Most of the film focuses on the romance he'd had, pre-war, with the Girl Back Home. It was a remake of a WWII movie, "Pride of the Marines", which was based on a true story.

At the time it was made, the US was just shifting from pretending that Vietnam hadn't happened to dealing with the fact that it had. I find the movie interesting on that level: they took a heartwarming story from a different war, moved it to the Vietnam era, and explored the fact that it wasn't all that heartwarming in a different context. In the WWII version, the Girl Back Home nobly sacrifices herself to look after her wounded fella. In this version, the Girl Back Home dares to want to do more with her life than be a wife, and isn't sure about insisting on helping someone who doesn't want to be helped. The execution of the idea isn't the best; the ending is ambiguous instead of heroic; the movie itself hasn't aged well. But it does give me a reminder of a different era.

And it has a lot of RDA beefcake, and RDA in uniform, to make up for the sobbing and flailing.

On the rda_daily comm, pepper_field did a multi-day series in which she recapped the movie with a series of screen caps. Here's the tag:

http://rda-daily.livejournal.com/tag/ordinary%20heroes

Scroll down the page to October 10th of 2011; the recap starts there. Work your way up to the top to get it in order. Each of Pepper's posts has one visible screencap, and a link that will open up the page with more caps and the description of the movie. The earlier posts with that tag are mostly of RDA in bed, naked, mostly posted by me. I did mention the eye candy. :-)

Thank you very much. A nice distraction during work tomorrow!
