I thought it was a long time between lols!

Pasta salad. Ugh. Intolerable on any planet.

And now I'll have to double-post some day this week, and catch up.

oh, g-d, not Mac Salad...
lolmac From: lolmac Date: 16th November 2010 06:02 (UTC) (Link)
Maybe it was his salad days.

When he hung out with Lt. Col. Ed Slaw?

Did your brain fart? Mine does that all the time.

Macaroni salad = good when I make it; always has crap in it that I don't want when somebody else makes it.

Not exactly a brain fart; a combination of a ghastly cold (ick), a wonderful houseguest (yay), and a drive through heavy rain to Portland for a con (splush). It was some time Saturday before I figured out that Friday had gone missing.

I noted your absence and filed it under "Anyone who is moving is allowed to have a day or so to freak out and be too busy to do anything but attend to the immmediate to-do list".

When my husband was in residency, one of his patients, a delightful - if medically complex - woman, published a cookbook, and dedicated it to him. My husband is a tall, fit, and very handsome fellow, and this kind of thing tends to happen to him, and he is always genuinely puzzled and humbled by it, poor innocent dear.

Well, anyway, we were both delighted and honored by the dedication and perused the volume together to find a recipe to test so we could write in our thank you note what we enjoyed about it. We could not find a single recipe we could bear to make. There were several different kinds of donuts, all of which she insisted must be deep-fat fried in lard. Ummmmm...No. Just no. And every single other recipe called for either hot dogs [Hot Dog Stroganoff was one] or mini-marshmallows, canned pineapple, and maraschino cherries in combination. I've hated hot dogs since childhood, and while mini-marshmallows are good in hot chocolate, fresh pineapple is nice, and we tolerate a cherry on the toothpick in our Shirley Temple, the combination is way too over-the-top on sweet.

Instead we wrote to say how honored he was, and how we were unable to say which was our favorite recipe because we were having such trouble deciding among the many available choices.

So cheer up, Jack. It could be twenny kindz of JelloTM mold, with twenny diffrent proporshuns of marshmellows, marasheeno cherriez, and pineappul.

*visualises Jello mold growing fungus-like* ewwww

Can any mortal mixture of earth's mould
Breathe such divine enchanting ravishment?

-John Milton

*sigh*

I'm afraid that mold/mould is just the sort of typo I am most susceptible to, where I know the difference, but my fingers have a mind of their own, and spell check says "It's a word! A real word! It must be right!" When I proofread my own stuff my brain works just like spell check. I catch 'em right quick in other people's work though!

How very odd that you favour something with a British colour to it... :) :) :)
thothmes From: thothmes Date: 16th November 2010 06:41 (UTC) (Link)
I lived in Greece for a year as a kid. Most of the fluent Anglophones there were British, rather than American, and my Dad's an English prof. I come by it honestly.

But if I were a true Brit, wouldn't I be calling it a "jelly"?

Can any pudding mixture of cook's mold
Breathe such a fine marshmallow ravishment?

Mark what gelatin state she stands
Fruity and beaming with lettuce shreds;
This, this is she alone
Sitting with a cherry knob
In the centre of her blob.

LOL! I doff my hat to you with a sweeping bow!
lolmac From: lolmac Date: 16th November 2010 06:40 (UTC) (Link)
And if you'll just drop your hat into the salad, we'll all have an excuse not to eat any of it.

Mission-battered sweaty hat dropped. Glad to be of service

And none of it is edible...

Now, my mom's potato salad on the other hand, yum!! :-)

Missed you at the con! *sad face*
lolmac From: lolmac Date: 16th November 2010 06:17 (UTC) (Link)
Me too! *waaah*

Next year? And maybe we can get a fanfic panel back into the programming, huhhuhcanwepleasehuhcanwe?
perkyandproud From: perkyandproud Date: 16th November 2010 06:35 (UTC) (Link)
I'll try! :-)

I did have a lovely conversation with a lovely lady and her camel who were waiting outside a panel for you, though... :-)
lolmac From: lolmac Date: 16th November 2010 06:57 (UTC) (Link)
So I heard! Yup, the camel smugglers were having a grand weekend of it.

:D I'm happy to carry the blame. About Friday... not the 'roni salad!
lolmac From: lolmac Date: 16th November 2010 06:19 (UTC) (Link)
Can we blame it on the bossa nova?
From: technoshaman Date: 16th November 2010 06:27 (UTC) (Link)
I say we blame it on the bossa olda! :)
