He looks so lost... poor thing!
lolmac From: lolmac Date: 2nd September 2010 23:54 (UTC) (Link)
I bet we can find someone to lead him astray.

Isn't *he* the one who leads himself astray?

(if not, I'm sure one Daniel Jackson would be happy to talk about those rocks over there. At length).

(also, he might find it easier to focus on the different messages if they were cross-posted to Facebook and twitter...;) )
lolmac From: lolmac Date: 3rd September 2010 00:07 (UTC) (Link)
Well, I just finished disabling the ticky boxes in this journal and all the comms I moderate, so I guess he's stuck with pieces of paper. How . . . quaint.
pitry From: pitry Date: 3rd September 2010 00:25 (UTC) (Link)
Hooray!

(he'll manage. He's the resourceful kind of guy).
lolmac From: lolmac Date: 3rd September 2010 01:06 (UTC) (Link)
Oh, look at that! He just took all those pieces of paper and built a code bomb that blew up all the Facebook/Twitter/LJ linkages.

Nice job, Mac!

*hands Mac cookies for his heroic deed*

(I hate to tell you this, but I'm still seeing the facebook/twitter ticky boxes as I type this comment.)
lolmac From: lolmac Date: 3rd September 2010 01:50 (UTC) (Link)
You'll see the boxes if you're looking at the post on your flist, and you haven't turned them off in your own style settings. Even though you've disabled comments in your LJ, you'll still see the boxes when you comment elsewhere, if you're looking at it from within your style settings.

You'll want to cut and paste the Super Magic Kill-da-Ticky-Boxes code into your CSS.
From: katxander Date: 3rd September 2010 02:53 (UTC) (Link)

CSS?

...*What???*

You're doin' that technobabbly thingy...some of us are incredibly *not* savvy.

...Savvy?

(The only "CSS" *I* know of is my Ex....can I use Super Magic to make *him* go away?)

Pikaaaaaa

Re: CSS?

No, but it might make him less of a twit if you suppress his Twitter feed.

See my reply to Sid in this same thread if you want to do the Magic Kill Code for yourself.

Yeah, well, I don't even know what CSS is, so I'm waiting to see if LJ comes up with a fix for this to save me the bother.
lolmac From: lolmac Date: 3rd September 2010 03:12 (UTC) (Link)
Whups, sorry -- I had assumed that you'd seen this, or something along those lines:

http://lupinity87.livejournal.com/9308.html

Blissfully easy and quick to do. You don't have to know what CSS is; just follow the instructions.

(CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheet. It's the magic coding thingy that causes your LJ to look like your LJ and not like mine.)
From: katxander Date: 3rd September 2010 05:24 (UTC) (Link)

3...2...1...

P2 did what they said (I looked at the instructions, blinked, and turned it over to more capable hands), and of course, at the bottom, there's a bit saying it may not work.

It didn't, naturally.

...Permission to use C-4, Sir?

lolmac From: lolmac Date: 3rd September 2010 06:08 (UTC) (Link)

Re: 3...2...1...

Permission granted.

However, first, tell him to make sure he pasted the code exactly (and that he was logged in correctly), and that it went into the Custom stylesheet box and not the Entry Footer HTML box, or any other box.

So far, I've used this code in six different layouts, and it's worked for all of them; but there will inevitably be layouts where it doesn't work. You can try changing your layout, or viewing this journal in my style, or waiting for LJ to fix it. Or try C4.

Re: 3...2...1...WHAT???

I lost you at "make sure..."

I'll just go and blow the d**n thing up. Back in a bit!

*saluting*

Re: 3...2...1...WHAT???

No, no, you were supposed to stop at "tell him" and hand the rest over without trying to read it. It's written in Technicalese.

Re: Mission accomplished!

*Saluting*

Little blue box blowed up, Sir! I didn't quite understand what you were saying there; I figgered you just meant add an extra pack of C-4 to make sure it stayed gone.

Guess it worked! *dusting off hands*

^_^

Re: ...did stamp, with both of her feet...

...You realize I'm running every phrase utilizing a postal term through my mind for a response, and ALL of it is really, really lewd or unprintable?

I love it...
